Making a difference:
We are a small, family-owned laboratory nestled right in the heart of West Mobile. The owner, Clay Ponder, started his own laboratory after working for several other private labs and managing a few of the corporate dental labs in the area. Seeing the large-scale, uncaring, corporate side of dentistry made him decide he wanted to venture out on his own to attempt to make a difference.
Opening SCP Dental on the foundations of patient care, quality work, and premier craftsmanship was his way of redefining the standard. Here, we prioritize the values that matter most: compassion, integrity, and individualized attention. With Clay's wealth of experience and genuine passion for making a difference, SCP Dental Laboratory has become a trusted name known for its dedication to excellence and genuine care.

On the Left - Clay, Owner and Lead Technician at SCPDL, was interviewed for the March issue about starting the laboratory in a tiny utility room closet, growing the business, building the new facility, why his heart is in dentistry, and how getting to where we are today has been one of the most amazing journeys he's ever been on. Clay Ponder, Owner and Technician
Founder and head technician, Clay took the dream of SCP Dental Laboratory and made it into reality. His dedication to quality and personalized care sets the standard for our team, making SCP Dental Lab a trusted partner in dental health and happiness.
Mandi Ponder, Office Manager
Clay's wife, Amanda ("Mandi"), is a nurse with over 20 years experience. She stood behind Clay through it all, even when he had less than nothing to his name. So, having been one of the main driving forces to make SCP Dental what it is today, it's no surprise that she's now part of the office team full time!
Sullivan Cash Ponder, Lab Dog
Sullivan is SCP Dental's mascot. A traditional Yorkshire Terrier, he is always roaming the lab making sure we haven't left any cases astray. He also is a constant reminder that we can't spend all day behind the bench, and that the occasional play session out back is good for the whole team!
